Binchotan Westryde: Premium Japanese & Korean BBQ with Fresh Sashimi in West Ryde

I had an absolutely wonderful dinner here tonight and felt I had to leave a review. I came after a strong recommendation from a friend, and it exceeded all expectations. The food was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. I travel to Japan often and have spent a lot of money on yakiniku there, but honestly, this was even better. A special mention goes to Chester, who looked after us so well. He explained each cut of meat in detail, recommended the best order to enjoy them, and checked in regularly to make sure everything was perfect. Anyone who has worked in hospitality knows how demanding it is to deal with people every day, and I truly admired his professionalism and energy. He has such a warm, outgoing personality. If I had to describe it, he is like a golden retriever in human form. If Chester is not the owner, the boss should do everything possible to keep a staff member like him. This restaurant is truly obsessed with the details in the best way. We ordered cold soba, and instead of serving it whenever it was ready, they thoughtfully served the meat first so the noodles would not go soggy, then prepared the soba at exactly the right time. That level of care really stood out. Not only Chester, but all of the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. It was a meal that felt truly worth every dollar, and we are already planning to come back again next week.

Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh, beautifully prepared, and clearly high quality. You could really taste how fresh the seafood was in every bite. The beef was just as impressive — incredibly tender with rich marbling that made it melt in your mouth. What truly stood out, though, was the service. The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout our visit. They consistently checked on us and made sure we were comfortable, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. With outstanding sashimi and beef, along with such kind and professional service, this place easily became one of our favorites. I would absolutely come back again!

Best Korean BBQ & Japanese sushi + sashimi in Sydney at West Ryde! Wow! First time I visited this place the food is freshly prepared & delicious! The staff are very good as well. The Yakitori skewers are tender, yummy & flavorsome served with eel, wagyu, pork & chicken. Sashimi is very fresh served with genuine wasabi & tasty ginger. Park your car free for 2 hours at Woolworths or Coles carpark.

Been here a couple of times in large groups. Platters are good, sashimi is fresh, service is impeccable with staff very attentive and the manager is always friendly towards kids. Only callout is that it can get very expensive as it’s à la carte. Some of the sushi pieces are a little pricey ($25 for a handroll?!) each time we come here with 6 adults and kids we usually hit over $700-800 for reference.

Everything that we have ordered were delicious : Sashimi, Sushi, Waygu Beef Tartaki with Uni, Chicken and Beef Yakitori and Salmon & Avocado Salad. - Staff is so friendly and polite and helpful - Service was so quick. - Price is reasonable for the quality of food. - Atmosphere, Good decoration - Surprise with welcome dish : Salmon salad , not expecting to get this. Great service and make the customer happy. - The owner, Jay is so friendly and I can see he cares his business and client. Great work.

Everything we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The sashimi platter was high-quality and the seafood tasted incredibly fresh. The beef was also very tender with great marbling. Most importantly, the staff member who checked on us was extremely kind, attentive, and genuinely nice, which made the whole experience even better. Great atmosphere, great food, and excellent service. I would definitely come back again!

I went to this restaurant last night with my boyfriend. We basically ordered the raw meat for barbecue. The meat was really good!!!!! And the unagi rice is the best one I ever had it, recommend add a corn with rice. The boss Chester is also very warm and hospitable. Will definitely go again.

We ate way too much but have zero regret! Highlight has to be the Wagyu Beef, top quality and melts in your mouth. The Binchotan Platter (M) is good to share between 2-4ppl. Pairs well with Tataki Kyuri Cucumber and Tako Avo. The Kobi school prawns were a great snack with our beers. We shared a chawanmushi, it's silky and well seasoned and not too eggie. Also had the fresh Sashimi platters (chefs special) very generous slices. Been here a few times already but need to come with a bigger group to try more of the other side dishes. The restaurant is well ventilated so you dont leave smelling like smoke. Hope they keep up the quality and service! Edit: came back with a larger group, tried the Tako Kara-age (Yum) and shio kombu cabbage (Umamy & addictive). Didn't mind the Wagyu beef tataki but the texture was not my favourite. Prefer their fresh Wagyu beef for bbq best.
